posting without a source is unfortunately pretty common, but it doesn’t have to be. with a few minutes of hunting, you can make sure the artists you like get credit for their work! :) hope this is helpful.

A lot of people may not like this, but source does not always appear through a google search. Also, DA’s sometimes host other’s artworks (not usually though). The ease of use that comes with Google Reverse Image Search (GRIS) also presents another issue. I tag everything I put up extensively. A problem with tumblr is that those tags don’t carry over by default on a reblog. Sourcing is an issue, but lack of tagging is just the same. I will tag the DA, but I hate when stuff auto-links outside of tumblr. If I wanted to know, I would just right-click GRIS. People reblog all the time without tags, and even then they just put source as the previous reblogger. Most of my stuff don’t get many notes, but I also don’t post anything that is already up on tumblr. I GRIS all of my images and if it shows up with a tumblr link, then I won’t post it. Also, sourcing it can make you go back a few pages (which I don’t mind), but others do. I highly doubt people look up whether what they are posting is already up on tumblr. I put up a disclaimer on my site telling people to use GRIS.
